NCAM condemned the attack on the synagogue in Melbourne, saying there is no place for antisemitism in Australia

The National Council of Australian Muslims (NCAM) condemned the attack on the synagogue in Melbourne, saying there is no place for antisemitism in Australia

NCAM strongly condemns the recent firebombing attack on on a synagogue in Melbourne’s southeast. This heinous act of violence, targeting a place of worship and causing significant damage is a blatant violation of the fundamental right to practice one’s faith freely and safely.

Sajida Salman, Director of NCAM, expressed deep concern, stating, we are profoundly disturbed by this attack on the Jewish community. This act of violence and intimidation is a hate crime that has no place in our society. This attack is not only an assault on the Jewish community but also a threat to the fabric of our society. We must stand united against all forms of hate, including antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of religious discrimination and work to create a safer and more inclusive future for all.

NCAM extends its heartfelt sympathies to the affected Jewish community and offers solidarity during this challenging time. We support the swift restoration of the damaged synagogue and the well-being of its congregation.

NCAM calls on law enforcement authorities to thoroughly investigate this crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. We urge all community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. We call upon the community at large to denounce this heinous act and promote interfaith harmony. It is imperative that we work together to create a society where all individuals, regardless of their faith or background, can live in peace and security.

NCAM commends the efforts of emergency services and community members who responded to the incident. It is imperative that we work together to create a more inclusive and tolerant society where everyone feels safe and respected. We must reject hate and violence and embrace the values of diversity and understanding.
