The National Council of Australian Muslims (NCAM) expresses deep concern over recent revelations that the Anti-Semitic Attacks in Australia may be the result of foreign interference. Authorities have indicated that these hate crimes, including arson and vandalism, may have been orchestrated by overseas actors who are funding local criminals to carry out these attacks. NCAM calls for a full, transparent investigation into the involvement of foreign networks and organized crime groups in these disturbing incidents.
While the Australian Federal Police (AFP) investigates, media and political leaders have irresponsibly linked these attacks to the Palestinian human rights movement. This has perpetuated dangerous Islamophobic narratives that unfairly target innocent Muslim communities. The suggestion that the attacks are ideologically driven by the Palestinian cause has been shown to be reckless, as evidence points to external, non-ideological actors manipulating local criminals. NCAM condemns this false framing, which only stokes division and fear among Australian communities.
NCAM calls on the Australian government to investigate the motives behind these attacks, specifically addressing who benefits from fueling religious and ethnic divisions and why the Palestinian human rights movement is being unfairly targeted. It is vital that political leaders and the media focus on addressing the real perpetrators behind these crimes, rather than using the situation to push a predetermined political agenda that exacerbates hate and misunderstanding.
Sajida Salman, NCAM Director, stresses the need for accountability and justice. “Australians deserve answers. The government must release the full details of any foreign involvement and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” said Sajida. “It is essential that we work together to protect community safety, foster unity, and reject the use of hate as a political tool. The focus must be on truth, transparency, and justice for all communities affected by these crimes.”
